The collaboration
I am a participant in Global Sounds, the low-cost hydrophone effort associated with POGO and the International Quiet Ocean Experiment. It connects researchers and engineers around accessible underwater recording.
The shared project
The group’s 2026 report documents prototype development, field testing, and preparation for a wider beta-testing program. It lists the participants and links to open project documentation. These are collective project outcomes.
Why it matters to my work
The collaboration connects with the same question behind You-Oceans: how to make scientific observation more practical and accessible.
Co-authored research
I am a co-author of Development of a Low-Cost Hydrophone for Research, Education, and Community Science, a seven-page paper in the OCEANS 2024 – Halifax proceedings published by IEEE. Related collaborative work is documented in the One Ocean Science Congress 2025 abstract OOS2025-71. Both records retain the full author lists and are distinct from the working-group report.
A permitted photograph of the working group’s hydrophone will be added when a publication-ready asset is available.
The working-group report describes collective results. Participant credit is distinct from authorship of the report or personal responsibility for every experiment.
