The project

Our TreeHacks team explored navigation support for people with visual impairments using live camera input, a floor plan, and tactile guidance.

My contribution

I worked on voice agents and ESP32-C3 / Arduino hardware integration alongside Michael Yu, Hinson Chan, and William Changhao Fei.

Outcome

Miru received Vespa.ai’s Best Hack Using a Vision Language Model prize at TreeHacks 2025. The result was an integrated proof of concept built during the hackathon.

Project documentation

A photograph of the team’s navigation prototype will be added when a publication-ready asset is available.

Miru was a four-person hackathon proof of concept. The award recognizes the team; the prototype has no claimed clinical validation or established user outcomes.
